Chief of General Staff of Poland Inspects Turkish SRBM TAYFUN System Amid Search for Long-Range Missiles
During a visit to Turkey, General Wiesław Kukula, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, visited facilities of the ROKETSAN Group, where he familiarized himself with the Turkish TAYFUN SRBM.
This was reported by the press service of the Polish Armed Forces.
In addition, Polish military officials were shown the TRG/TRLG families of guided rockets, which align with Poland’s concept for developing the capability to deliver high-precision strikes deep into enemy territory.
Poland also expressed interest in multi-layered air defense technologies, particularly the ALKA system, which combines laser weapons with electronic warfare capabilities, as well as the PUSU anti-drone solutions and the SUNGUR man-portable air defense system (MANPADS).

“The visit was part of an effort to familiarize ourselves with modern technologies and areas of development in operational capabilities that are important for the transformation of the Polish Armed Forces and the strengthening of the country’s defense potential,” the ministry emphasized.
Poland aims to develop the capability to deliver high-precision strikes at ranges of over 1,000 kilometers. The country is considering strike drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles as potential weapons.
According to Brigadier General Grzegorz Potuszki, head of the Planning and Programming Directorate for the Development of the Polish Armed Forces, the Polish Army is currently capable of striking ground targets at a range of approximately 300 kilometers using American ATACMS missiles and South Korean CTM-290 missiles. However, the experience of the Russia-Ukraine war has demonstrated the need to use high-precision weapons at significantly greater ranges.
TAYFUN SRBM
ROKETSAN is actively developing the TAYFUN family of ballistic missiles. The first tests of the missile took place in October 2022—the missile struck a target 561 km away after a 458-second flight.
Subsequent tests took place in June 2023 from the Rize-Artvin airfield in the northeast of the country. The tests confirmed the missile’s combat capabilities and marked another step toward the mass production of the new weapon.
In July 2025, ROKETSAN unveiled the TAYFUN Block-4 short-range ballistic missile for the first time. According to unofficial reports, its range is approximately 1,000 km.

According to the company, the TAYFUN Block-4 is an improved version of the previous model and features an increased range and higher speed, allowing it to effectively penetrate missile defense systems.
The missile weighs about 7.3 metric tons, is approximately 10 meters long, and has a diameter of 610 mm. According to the company, this is the first Turkish ballistic missile capable of striking targets at a range of several hundred kilometers at a speed exceeding Mach 5.
