Local SIM Cards Found in Russian Drones That Entered Poland in September 2025

SIM cards from Polish mobile operators were found in some of the Russian Gerbera UAVs that violated Polish airspace in September 2025.

This became known after the Polish prosecutor’s office concluded its investigation, RMF24 reports.

At the same time, the agency has not disclosed whether the SIM cards were stolen or obtained illegally.

This part of the investigation remains classified.

The Polish prosecutor’s office closed the investigation because the individual directly responsible for the airspace violation could not be identified.

At the same time, investigators concluded that Polish military personnel acted in accordance with established procedures during the attack and had the right to destroy enemy UAVs.

On the night of September 9–10, 2025, Russia carried out one of its largest attacks on Ukraine, during which Russian Gerbera drones violated Polish airspace.

Polish military personnel detected the first incursion at around 11:14 p.m., while the last was detected at around 6:30 a.m.

On September 12, 2025, Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Bureau at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, said that according to data received by the presidential office, 21 drones had crossed the Polish border.
