Liutyi Drones Strike Oil Facility in Russia’s Ufa, Fire Continues

Ukrainian long-range strike drones attacked an oil facility in the Russian city of Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, on the morning of July 8, sparking a fire that is still burning.

Videos and photos published on the Exilenova+ Telegram channel capture flames and thick smoke rising from the site.

Local residents also filmed what appears to be a Ukrainian Liutyi long-range strike drone flying over the city before the attack.

Witnesses filmed thick black smoke rising from the strike site. To reach their targets, the Ukrainian drones traveled more than 1,400 kilometers.

It is not yet clear which facility was struck by the drones, as the Ufa oil refining facility comprises the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim, Bashneft-UNPZ, and Bashneft-Novoil plants. All three are part of the structure of Russia’s state-owned oil company Rosneft.

The refinery produces Euro 4 and Euro 5 standard automotive fuels, aviation kerosene, bitumen, and feedstocks for the petrochemical industry.

This production cluster is one of the largest oil refining hubs in Russia, supplying fuel and lubricants to both the domestic market and the Russian military. It has been targeted multiple times by Ukrainian drones, including strikes in April and June 2026.

According to Exilenova+, Ukrainian Lyutyi strike drones hit the Cherkassy Line Production Dispatch Station (LPDS), one of the key hubs in the Transneft–Ural pipeline system responsible for pumping crude oil and petroleum products.

The station serves the war-critical trunk pipelines TON-1, TON-2, TON-3, and Ust-Balyk–Kurgan–Ufa–Almetyevsk, which transport crude oil from Western Siberia to refineries in Bashkortostan and Tatarstan.
