Ukrainian Drones Strike Military Airfield in Borisoglebsk, Voronezh Region
Ukrainian Defense Forces strike drones attacked the military airfield in Borisoglebsk, where the Russian Aerospace Forces operate both combat and training aircraft.
According to the Astra Telegram channel, the attack took place overnight between July 7 and 8, 2026. The drones successfully struck the airbase, triggering a fire, as confirmed by videos filmed by local residents.
The air base is located at coordinates 51.367757560447004, 42.17790811738922 and, before the war, was one of the main air bases of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
The air base is home to the 783rd Training Aviation Center and units of the 105th Mixed Aviation Division, which is equipped with Su-34, Su-35, and Su-30SM aircraft.
As of today, the air base has no permanently deployed combat aircraft. Instead, it serves as a temporary staging point where aircraft refuel and rearm before carrying out missions against targets in Ukraine.
Satellite imagery from recent months suggests that the airfield has seen relatively little activity, likely because of its proximity to the border. The images show only occasional visits by individual helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.
This is not the first time the airbase has been targeted. On July 4–5, 2025, attack drones struck the airfield. Satellite imagery released on July 6 subsequently confirmed both the location and the impact of the strike.
A comparison of pre- and post-strike satellite imagery indicates that the affected area was being used to store external fuel tanks and other aviation equipment. The equipment likely included UMPK guidance kits for bombs.

The air base was also targeted on June 5, 2025. During that attack, drones struck both the air base and the Borisoglebsk Training Aviation Center, where Russian flight personnel are trained.
Another important airbase in the Voronezh region is Baltimor Air Base. It is home to the 47th Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 105th Mixed Aviation Division. The air base was last attacked on May 27, 2026.
Baltimor serves as the main operating base for Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers, which are regularly used in strikes against Ukraine.
