Supreme NATO Commander: Ukraine Sets Pace for Military Innovation
NATO should learn from Ukraine’s rapid battlefield innovation and adapt similar mechanisms within its own forces.
According to Defence Industry Europe, this message comes from Air Force General Alexus G. Grynkewich, Supreme Allied Commander Europe. He highlighted that the speed and agility with which Ukraine was deploying new technological solutions amid a full-scale war should’ve served as a model for NATO allies.
The general also underscored the importance of close cooperation between the military and the defense industry, noting that new technologies must be developed and fielded not over the course of years, but within weeks.
“Ukraine has managed to build an effective system for rapidly implementing new technologies – including drones, digital platforms, and weapons systems – in record time,” said General Grynkewich.
According to him, NATO countries must follow Ukraine’s example, which has established serial production of military equipment from scratch in a matter of days or weeks. He emphasized that NATO members must have adapted their defense-industrial capabilities to the pace of modern warfare.
Grynkewich also voiced his support for the creation of a unified transatlantic defense industrial base shared between the United States and Europe.
It’s worth noting that during the LANDEURO 2025 exhibition in Wiesbaden, the general also stressed that NATO must have prepared for a potential two-front war by 2027, facing threats from both Russia and China.
