SSU Presents New Generation of Sea Baby Naval Drones: Range Exceeds 1,500 km
The SSU has unveiled a new generation of Sea Baby surface drones, designed to perform special operations in the Black Sea.
According to the SSU, these drones have already been successfully tested in combat conditions, demonstrating their effectiveness during key missions against the Russian fleet.
In particular, the naval drones participated in the third attack on the Crimean Bridge, executed on June 3, 2025.
According to SSU Head Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk, the work to clear the Black Sea of Russian ships is ongoing.
During the operation to strike the Crimean Bridge, the drones delivered explosives directly to the detonation point, causing serious damage to the structure’s supports.
The updated Sea Baby modifications were developed using funds raised by Ukrainians through the UNITED24 fundraising platform.

Next-generation drones are capable of covering over 1,500 kilometers, carrying up to two tons of cargo, and are equipped with powerful engines and an advanced navigation system.
The SSU development team presented two different weapon configurations for maritime platforms.
The first drone is equipped with a gyro-stabilized machine‑gun mount featuring automatic target acquisition and recognition.

The second version carries heavy armament – a 10‑round, 122 mm Grad multiple‑launch rocket system, turning it into a mobile naval artillery platform.
The active use of unmanned systems compelled Russia to redeploy most of its warships to Novorossiysk, which enabled Ukraine to unblock the “grain corridor” in the Black Sea.

Additionally, in June, the Magura V7 naval drone, equipped with surface-to-air missiles, was spotted in the Kerch Strait shortly after an SSU operation near the Crimean Bridge.
