Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Finds Extensive Western Components in Russian Geran-4 Drone

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has discovered a significant number of Western-made components in Russia’s new Geran-4 jet-powered kamikaze drone.

The findings were published on the War&Sanctions website.

The drone contains components originating from the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, China, Switzerland, Japan, and Taiwan.

Most of the identified parts are Chinese-made. The drone is powered by a Chinese LX-WP-160 engine manufactured by Telefly Telecommunications Equipment Co., Limited.

The Geran-4 drone also features a 16-element CRP antenna, which is largely built from Chinese components.


In particular, the equipment includes a UC9810 GNSS receiver produced by the Chinese company Unicore Communications, Inc., manufactured in October 2025.

Investigators also identified two transceivers: one is the SIT3232E model made by China’s Hunan Silicon Internet of Things Technology Co., Ltd, while the other is the 55ASLHK G4 LVC16T245 model produced by the American company Texas Instruments.

The drone also contains a 5KA17 RW214 memory chip produced by the U.S. company Micron Technology. Investigators additionally found two unidentified microchips marked 5710 ELM93 2539 and SAU TI 5AI C4NG.

Other identified components include HAA552 031N08N5 and 014N06NS HAG531 transistors manufactured by Germany’s Infineon Technologies. The drone also uses several components made by the American company Texas Instruments, including LM5176 TI 5AT A1CO 237 and LM258 TI5AM A1V3 operational amplifiers, a 47CED9U LM5117 PMH voltage step-down converter, and an MB3238I 56KG4 CDFZ line driver.

In addition, the drone contains J4 220V CD electrolytic capacitors made by the Japanese company Nichicon, as well as a digital signal processor produced by Texas Instruments.

It is also noted that at the beginning of May 2026, Russians used Geran-4 jet-powered strike drones for the first time. During the same attack, soldiers of the 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment shot down a Geran-4 strike drone using a STING interceptor drone.

According to available information, the Geran-4 UAV has a wingspan of about 3 meters and a length of 3.5 meters, similar to the previous version, but its takeoff weight has increased from 350 to 450 kilograms.

The use of the LX-WP-160 jet engine has increased the cruise speed from 280–330 km/h to 350–500 km/h, while also extending the flight range from 600 km to 850 km.
