Czechoslovak Group Delivers Air Defense Systems to Indonesia
Excalibur International, the export subsidiary of the Czech Republic’s Czechoslovak Group, has been selected to supply air defense systems to the Indonesian Air Force.
Militarnyi correspondent reports this news.
The system was selected to meet the specific operational requirements of the Indonesian Air Force.
The contract was signed in 2022, with the official announcement following in 2023.
The air defense platform is built on the Czech-made Tatra Force chassis, several of which were delivered for conversion into system components.
The Tatra chassis serves multiple functions, acting as the base for missile launchers, radars, supply vehicles, command systems, and mobile maintenance units.
Czech company Retia is also a key partner in the project, having integrated two advanced radars for target detection and tracking. These provide coverage at both medium and long ranges.
The project also includes close cooperation with Turkish defense manufacturer Roketsan, which supplies its HISAR missile systems integrated into the Czech chassis.
The HISAR system, developed by Roketsan, is designed to provide short- and medium-range air defense.
The system features a six-cell launcher that can fire both HISAR-O infrared-guided missiles, with a range of over 25 km, and HISAR-RF missiles equipped with active radar seekers, capable of hitting targets up to 100 km away.
The HISAR-RF version was qualified in summer 2024, when it successfully conducted its first long-range intercept of an airborne target.
Each battery includes a command post, short- and long-range radar systems, four missile launchers with six canisters each, and accompanying support vehicles.
