Drone Crashes into Aircraft Factory in Taganrog, Russia
A drone reportedly crashed on the grounds of an aircraft factory in Taganrog, located in Russia’s Rostov region.
The incident was announced on the morning of July 11 by the city’s mayor, Svitlana Kambulova, in her Telegram channel, as reported by Astra.
According to Kambulova, the debris of the drone fell on the Beriev Aircraft Plant, allegedly due to the actions of Russian air defense systems.
“The drone was neutralized by a mobile unit. Its debris fell on the territory of the Beriev Aircraft Company,” Kambulova wrote.
She added that there were no casualties as a result of the incident and that emergency response teams were working at the scene. It is worth noting that Russian authorities at various levels often use the phrase “falling debris” even when photo and video evidence confirms a direct drone strike on a specific target.
The PJSC Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex named after G. M. Beriev (Beriev Aircraft Company) is an aircraft manufacturing enterprise that specializes in the development, serial production, modernization, and repair of amphibious aircraft and special-purpose aviation systems, including A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft.
The plant also carries out major overhauls of aircraft belonging to the Russian Navy’s aviation and modernizes Tu-95MSM strategic missile-carrying bombers. The enterprise is part of the Public Joint Stock Company United Aircraft Corporation, which is owned by the Russian state corporation Rostec.
The Beriev Aircraft Company was previously attacked in December and March of 2024.
