Five More Countries Join Electronic Warfare Coalition for Ukraine

Five more countries have joined the international Electronic Warfare (EW) coalition to support Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

Rustem Umierov, Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, announced this.

Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Turkey, and Estonia have signed the relevant addendum to the Letter of Intent.

In addition, Sweden has joined Germany as a co-chair of the coalition.

This is another important outcome of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting, which took place the day prior.

The EW Coalition was established in April this year at the initiative of Ukraine, Germany, and eight other partner countries.

“Germany, as the coalition leader, has already created a financial mechanism to purchase electronic warfare equipment and services. All of this is aimed at promptly delivering them to the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of international military assistance,” Umerov explained.

The Minister added that electronic warfare is one of the key capabilities in modern warfare, enabling the destruction, jamming, and preemptive actions against the enemy. Additional countries are expected to join the EW Coalition.

Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson wrote on the social media platform X that his country is joining the Electronic Warfare (EW) Coalition and will become its co-chair at Germany’s invitation.

He noted that Sweden aims to contribute by leveraging its expertise in the field of EW.

According to him, the coalition’s cooperation will focus in particular on procuring electronic warfare equipment and training specialists.

“Together, we will fight against Russian electronic warfare. There is much we can learn from one another — especially from Ukraine’s battlefield experience,” Jonson added.
